The Market Common Celebrates the New Year’s Eve With Bands, A Mirror Ball Drop, Fireworks and 9,000 Revelers

January 18, 2017

The Market Common, HomeFed’s mixed-use urban village in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, rang in the New Year in grand style.  The community’s fourth annual “A Southern Times Square” attracted 9,000 guests to this free, family-friendly celebration.  The New Year was marked with a mirrored ball drop and spectacular fireworks display.  Starting at 7 p.m., guests celebrated with two stages featuring local bands Painted Man and PaperWork, a beer garden, food vendors, and an extensive kid’s play area. The Market Common also streamed the New York Times Square festivities on a jumbo screen. The Market Common’s 350,000-square-foot shopping and entertainment district stayed open late to accommodate the revelers.

In just four years “A Southern Times Square” has grown to be one of the largest outdoor New Year’s Eve celebrations in the region.  Families drive from out-of-state to participate!
